Offering an answer to global agricultural problems including, How can we feed an ever increasing population? Marco Tidona of Aponix, Germany, presents versatile, modular horticultural equipment – vertical farms!

A software service provider turned urban farming engineer, Tidona began his research into alternative farming solutions by creating his very own basement aquaponics farm.

Soon encountering structural problems including flooding, Tidona further perfected his designs and now works through Aponix to provide infrastructural components to partnering companies seeking their own unique farming solutions.

Aponix designs are compact and similar to building blocks, they can be arranged into configurations appropriate to individual or company needs.

The inventor of the “vertical barrel”, a modular barrel system which enables users to grow leafy greens and small vegetables at high density in a compact environment, Tidona’s work enables communities to integrate fresh farming into their urban spaces.

Through formulations designed to enable maximum growth and harvest, Aponix systems provide nutrients to plants through methods including organic aquaponics, and hydroponics - one uses manure-rich water from live fish, the other uses chemical fertilizer.

Stand your Aponix system up, hang it from the ceiling, use it with substrate or with an external reservoir, these flexible, compact farming methods, both soilless and not, are easily integrated into corporate and urban landscapes.

By drastically reducing the space and machinery needed to farm land for edible crops, Aponix designs provide practicality and convenience, and are easily modifiable to individual user and community needs.

Materials used for each Aponix component are durable, food safe, flame and UV resistant, and recyclable.

A unique, Aponix system promotes sustainability by enabling individuals and companies in non-rural spaces to farm plants for local consumption, reducing a reliance on heavy farming machinery and on transport from distant food producers.

This urban farming infrastructure can be integrated into urban landscapes all over the world to support sustainable cities and responsible consumption.

With Aponix systems, there will be no need for communities to rely on working large amounts of farmland or importing large quantities of food to meet their complete nutritional needs - a properly configured and compact vertical farm is a sustainable, manageable, and reliable farming alternative.
