I’m just curious what people consider sustainable? For myself its growing my own food and composting, using less resources and trying to buy sustainably sourced products. That’s the basic answer. What’s yours?
Thank you. I’m just more interested in what people think about sustainability at its most basic level. I want to try to figure out a way to make it become a mainstream movement.
For me, I try to follow the R's as best I can: Reduce, Recycle, Reuse, Refuse, Rot, Re-purpose. I also try to grow my own food. Sustainability encompasses too much for me to give a more simple answer.
Sustainability to me means (1) putting in serious bike lanes so people can feel safe while cycling everywhere, (2) trying to live off grid, including capturing rainwater and using only solar energy, (3) only buying used if possible, (4) staying away from plastic (how do you freeze things without plastic?) and (5) taking public transportation
Yes! All of this! I took a job closer to home just so I could walk or bike to work. I think more cities have adapted bike lanes, which is great. And getting away from plastic seems impossible, but there is a future where plastic isn’t our main form of packaging. We could go in a hemp direction, easily grown, can be thrown in a compost pile.

Definitely & I reuse or repurpose everything I can. And I can/freeze my stuff as well.
Growing and preserving my own food by caning, or freezing in reusable bags, mend/fix until you absolutely cannot, use less resources
